Experimental Photographs...
Today was the first race of the ten race CU short track series in Boulder. My son and I used it as a bonding experience. We packed a picnic lunch and two cameras and headed to the race venue after work.
My Photos:
Today I experimented with shutter speed and apeture. I can't say I was successfull in the least. One day I hope to learn how to use my camera.

My Son's Photos:
It is safe to say that my three year old son is a better photographer than I am. He is getting a lot better at following the action in the view finder, but the big lesson we worked on today is trying to keep his figers away from the lens.

Night Riding Lunar Eclipse Style...

Tonight was the lunar eclipse and I got to enjoy some of it. A thin layer of clouds hazed my view as I gazed up at the moon during the start of the eclipse.
Unfortunately I was unable to see the full eclipse as the previously mentioned thin layer of clouds got thicker and thicker until fully obstructing my view of the sky.

Not So Simple, Simple Request...

Assuming she wanted a quick turn around time I browsed my photo library and sent her 5 images that I really liked and emailed them to her. Shortly after I sent her the photos she came back to my office and said, "Why are these your favorites?" I couldn't respond. Then she said, "I know you've taken better pictures than these. You don't have to rush. Pick your favorite five photos and send them to me."
That simple request has got me looking at my photo albums archive with a much closer eye. Close enough to realize that one of my photos was used on a fellow blogger's post today. I'm flattered, truly.
Back to my point. While looking at the images I emailed my wife I realized the photos are not what I loved, but the memories the images provoke is what I loved.
As I shift through the archive I'll be posting images to this blog of those photos that I really like. If I have a memory associated with it I may blog about it or I may not.
This may take a while as I'm of the thinking that if I take a lot of pictures at least one of them will come out OK.
I have a lot of pictures to look through.

Stupid Weeds!
Tonight was the last short track race of the season in Boulder. I snapped a couple pictures, but wouldn't you know this damn weed hogged the spotlight. Of course, you could look at these pictures and say to me: "You must be very talented with a camera to be able to take the picture at the very moment a riders face is completely obstructed by a thin weed." Well, you could say that...

Ass Crack Rock in Arches National Park
A lot of rocks in Arches National Park have a name, so my wife and I looked at the map in hopes we would see "Ass Crack....", but there was nothing of the sort.
So we officially named it and marked it with the GPS. If you are ever in the area, check these coordinates:
N38 39.759
W109 35.294
W109 35.294
At the above waypoint you will be at the viewing point for Ass Crack Rock.
Take a look at the image and see if you can stretch your imagination a bit to see Ass Crack Rock.
Maybe the humor of it is lost on others, or maybe we are twisted, but there is no doubt that my wife and I do our thinking on the same wave length.
